BENJAMIN HASLEM, Managing and Founding Partner
Ben has more than 20 years’ experience in media, corporate and crisis communications, providing strategic public and government relations advice at the highest levels across the financial services, not-for-profit, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, healthcare, resources, defence, education, construction and ICT sectors.
Prior to establishing Wells Haslem Mayhew, Ben spent nine years at leading independent Australian public relations firm, Jackson Wells, most recently as director and CEO.
Ben possesses an acute understanding of both the mainstream media and strategic public affairs, having spent the best part of a decade working for The Australian newspaper in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne before joining Jackson Wells in 2003.
His experience and skills set brings a unique perspective to clients, helping them more effectively navigate relationships with customers, staff, suppliers, regulators, governments and other key stakeholders.
Immediately before joining Jackson Wells, Ben was The Australian’s High Court correspondent and regularly acted as Chief-of-Staff at the Sydney Bureau. From 1999-2002, he was based in the Parliamentary press gallery in Canberra.
Between 1996-1999 he worked as a general reporter, state rounds reporter and court reporter for The Australian in Melbourne.
Ben also worked on the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph.
Ben has a Bachelor of Arts degree in politics and psychology from the University of Sydney, where he was editor of the student newspaper, Honi Soit. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Communication from University of Technology, Sydney.
